You are Nowhere!

© Gingergirl/Dreamstime.com
It's been a while since I have posted. I have been somewhat preoccupied with adjusting to working full time, going to school, and doing homework. I never realized how tight my schedule was until I tried to smush (is that a word?) more activities into it. In any case, I wanted to right a blog today regarding focusing on where you are at and where you want to go.

In the financial realm, as well as any other realm, when you have set a goal for yourself, commit to the goal, and then begin taking steps, it can seem like you are never going to get there. I once heard someone say that your reality is shaped by your perception of it.  Take a look at these two examples:

YOU ARE NOWHERE!

YOU ARE NOW HERE!

With a small adjustment  in spacing of characters, the whole reality of that first sentence changes into something far more positive. My point in showing this is that you can not allow your current (negative) perception of your reality to prevent you from moving forward in your goal.  You have to accept where you are at right now and view it as beautiful.  Why? Because where you are now, prompted your decision towards something better.  Be it, financial security, saving for a dream vacation, finishing a degree, becoming healthier, or starting a business.  Whatever goal you are trying to accomplish was prompted by where you are right now.  As you accept this reality, you must also accept that changing your reality will be uncomfortable, will require perseverance, and will require a positive mindset.

How many times can you count where life unexpectedly hit you with something that changed your reality.  Your day to day schedule was completely turned upside down.  You were forced by life's circumstances to adapt.  And, guess what? You did.  What's the difference between that situation and this?  Well, you are choosing to adapt this time rather than being forced.  Choosing to change, I think, takes far more courage and tenacity then being forced by life's unexpected situations.  If you ask anyone who is going through a financially forced adaptation, they will most undoubtedly say, "I wish I had saved more, so this would not be so difficult now.  I wish I had been better at budgeting.  I wish...."

I believe that God allows us choices.  It's one of the wonderful gifts He gives us as human beings on this earth.  So, I ask you today to think about your choice as a voluntary adaptation.  You are voluntarily choosing to create a reality in your life that was not forced upon you.  Accept where you are, that change is difficult, and move courageously forward.  And, never forget the power of choice!

You are not alone. :) Choosing to view reality positively takes a lot of work.
